Crab Cake Crawl: Finding the Best Bite in Fell’s Point
🦀 Baltimore’s Crab Cake Showdown: Fell’s Point Edition
Few cities do crab cakes like Baltimore, and the historic Fell’s Point neighborhood is packed with some of the best spots to test that claim. During my latest Nomad Nom Noms adventure, I sampled crab cakes from three local favorites — One Eyed Mike’s, Thames Street Oyster House, and Penny Black — and each one brought something deliciously different to the table.
🥉 One Eyed Mike’s
Fell’s Point delivers again! One-Eyed Mike’s serves up a hearty Maryland crab cake with tender asparagus and creamy coleslaw — local flavors done right in the heart of Baltimore. #NomadNomNoms #FoodieTravels #BaltimoreFoodScene
First up was One Eyed Mike’s, serving a hearty crab cake alongside grilled asparagus and creamy coleslaw. The cake had generous chunks of crab meat and that classic Maryland flavor — savory, slightly sweet, and perfectly seasoned. It was definitely a strong contender, though it ranked third in this close race (or maybe tied for second). Still, a great crab cake worth ordering if you’re in the neighborhood.
🥈 Thames Street Oyster House
Fell’s Point flavor alert 🚨🦀 Thames Street Oyster House knows how to plate a Baltimore classic. #NomadNomNoms #FoodieAdventures
Next was Thames Street Oyster House, a cozy spot known for its seafood mastery. Their crab cake leaned more toward a minced crab texture rather than big chunks, but it didn’t disappoint in flavor. The grilled zucchini and potato salad sides were excellent — fresh, well-seasoned, and a perfect match for the cake. If you love a well-rounded plate with balance and presentation, this one’s for you.
🥇 Penny Black
Winner, winner, crab cake dinner 🦀💥
Penny Black’s crab cake stole the show — big lumps, bold flavor, and that perfect Maryland magic. #NomadNomNoms #PennyBlack #CrabCakeQuest
And finally, my favorite: Penny Black. This crab cake stole the show with huge, juicy lumps of crab meat, lightly seasoned to let the natural sweetness shine. Served with crispy fries and a lemon wedge, it hit that perfect mix of simplicity and indulgence. Every bite was a reminder of why Maryland crab cakes are legendary.
